McClure, Shirley Bell (nee Paull)

September 5, 1935 - August 8, 2019

Shirley McClure, aged 83, passed into her Saviour’s glory with family at her side. Shirley was born in Walkerton to Harvey and Florence Paull, and was an older sister to Gordon. Shirley was married in Walkerton in 1957 to her husband Donald and they had a long and happy marriage. As a minister's wife, she gave herself in support of Donald's education and ministry. To her five children, she was a very loving mother. In adulthood, she was able to complete her Bachelor's of Library Science and served as librarian at Lakehead University for several years, regularly seeing some of her adult children and a future son-in-law as students pass through the library. In retirement, Donald and Shirley devoted themselves to elder-care for their parents, genealogy and historical societies, horticulture, and their children, grandchildren and great-grandchild. Shirley amassed the family genealogy and published several books through the Bruce County Historical Society during this time. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother, son Andrew and grandson Aaryn. She is survived by daughter Donna (Jim), granddaughter, Erika, great-granddaughter Malina; son Ian (Kirsten), grandchildren Tim, Braelyn and Emily; daughter Lois Ann (Kendell), granddaughter Kara; and daughter Catherine (Dan), along with numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law. A private family service will be arranged with interment at the family plot in the Chesley Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy and remembrance, donations in lieu of flowers, would be gratefully received in Shirley's memory for the Alzheimer Society. Donations may be made though the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, Woodstock (519-539-0004). Online condolences at www.brockandvisser.com
