William "Bill" Frederick Elliott

March 6, 1931 — August 11, 2020

William (Bill) Frederick Elliott, born Friday, March 6, 1931, in Toronto Ontario, passed peacefully into his heavenly Father's presence on Tuesday, August 11, 2020, at Caressant Care in Woodstock Ontario, with loved ones by his side. He is achingly missed by his loving and devoted wife Marge (60th anniv. Aug.20/2020) and cherished by his children Carol (Phil), Pete (Carol), Andy (Julie), and Mary. Proud Grandpa of Alison, Emily; Sean, Jennifer; Connor, Clare, Thomas, Jonah; Kate and Julia.  Beloved uncle and cousin, loyal friend, caring teacher, friendly neighbour.  Predeceased by his parents Frank Elliott (1897-1972) and Margaret Irving Elliott (1896-1986).  Bill was raised in Leaside and graduated from the Univ. of Toronto in 1955 (Electrical Engineering), Teachers' College, and London College of Bible and Missions in 1964. He was a natural at teaching, truly caring for his Math and Computer Science students in Toronto, Collingwood, Stayner, and Oshawa (O'Neill CVI 1964-1966; Eastdale CVI 1966-1986). He was known for his gentle compassion, sharp wit (even in his final months), vivid memory of childhood events, faith in God, a vast array of knowledge, giant slide rule, no onions, and kindness to each person he encountered on his journey. He never lost his childlike playfulness, evident in his interactions with children;  possessed a curious and brilliant mind, wisdom combined with humble demeanour, musical talent (piano/violin), and numerous interests and skills: steam engines, old cars, sailing, camping, skiing, sleight of hand, lighthouses, storytelling, woodworking, inventing, linguistics, people of all nations, computer programming, numbers, physics, astronomy, our Tyrone home, and all animals, esp. elephants. He was the quintessential absentminded professor. Most of all, he loved being a husband, dad, and grandpa. Home was his happy place; family, his contentment. His absence leaves a profoundly felt void. Due to Covid pandemic precautions, a private gathering is planned, with friend and former pastor Rev. Gordon Belyea, to honour his life. Cremation has taken place; arrangements with Brock & Visser Funeral Home, Woodstock ON. If desired, donations may be made in his memory to Millstream Bible Camp and Retreat Centre (formerly Crusaders) http://millstream.camp by email info@millstream.camp or phone (705)799-6521 OR World Vision Canada www.worldvision.ca Expressions of love and sympathy may be placed and viewed online at www.brockandvisser.com
