ROGERS, William Frederick - Passed away peacefully at Woodingford Lodge, Woodstock on Saturday March 13th 2021 in his 86th year. Willie was born March 5 1936 at the Tecumseh St. family home in Woodstock. He was a competitive athlete over the years. Willie won the Jr. B Ontario Hockey championship with the Ingersoll Reams in 1954/55, that team was inducted into the Ingersoll Sports Hall of Fame June 1986. He played many years in the I.B.I fastball league. His biggest passion and most loved sport was curling. He won prestigious bonspiels and OCA events. He was a long time member of the Woodstock Curling Club, Oxford Masonic Lodge No 76 and the Navy Club (OCNVA). Willie spent summers with family, relatives and friends in Stokes Bay enjoying many hours of fishing and hunting before retiring in 1994 from Fisher Controls with 36+ years service. While enjoying the beautiful Bruce Peninsula in the summers, winters were spent at Lake Okeechobee with Florida friends and his companion Ivadell McIntosh for 20 years. As his Parkinsons progressed he made new friends and enjoyed great care at Oxford Gardens, People Care - Tavistock and Woodingford Lodge. Loved father of Susan (Nelson) Samworth, Shelley (John Donlevy) and Ron and their mother Donna (nee Pettit). Dear father-in-law of Dave Tucker, Jeanette MacDonald and cherished grandfather of Amy (Ryan Pollock) Samworth and Ryan (Erin) Samworth; Matt Tucker, Derek (Sheena) Tucker; Jenna Witmer (late Ryan (2019)) & Wyatt Rogers. Sadly missed by nine great grandchildren and his siblings Jim (Nancy) Rogers, Vianne (Bob) Manson, Carolyn Fletcher, Deborah (Doug) Winer. Dear brother-in-law of Dorothy Rogers, Garfield Scott and Lois Rogers. Predeceased by his siblings Frank Rogers, Don Rogers, Donamay Scott and Tom Rogers and brother-in-law Dick Fletcher. Cremation has taken place with a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.
