William "Bill" Frederick Murphy

MURPHY, William (Bill) Frederick - As the sun set over the Appalachian mountains, our father spread his wings and flew heavenward to embrace his beloved wife, Grace Louise (MacKellar). William Frederick Murphy passed away in Greenville, South Carolina on Good Friday, March 25, 2016, just days shy of his 85th birthday. Dear father of Catharine Murphy of Woodstock, Karen and Peter Swartzentruber of Paris and Bill and Karen Murphy of Greenville. Dedicated grandfather to Sean and Becky Mercer, Joshua Swartzentruber and Sarah Murphy. Great-grandfather of Justin, Mason, Jacob, Lucas and Gracie. Predeceased by sisters Teresa and Helen Murphy, and brothers Vincent and John Murphy. Bill and Grace are also remembered for the many foster children invited into their home. Kind and generous to a fault, dad's finest quality was patience - demonstrated daily as eight children squeezed around the dining table, his unfailing efforts to coach womens' fastball teams, and his unwaveringly loyalty to the Toronto Maple Leafs. His sense of humour, measured wisdom and Irish eyes will be sadly missed. Friends are invited to gather and share memories of Bill and Grace at a reception at the Royal Canadian Legion, 70 William St., Paris, Ontario on Saturday May 14, 2016 from 2:00-5:00pm.
