William "Clarke" Howard Abbey

ABBEY, William Howard "Clarke" - Peacefully surrounded by his family at the Woodstock Hospital on Sunday March 29, 2015, Clarke Abbey of Oxford Centre in his 80th year. Beloved husband of Kathryn "Kathy" Gail (nee Balcomb) Abbey for over 27 years. Dear father of Don and his wife Mary, Chris Hart and her husband Daryl, Karen Schram and her husband Ed, Keven Young and his wife Lisa and Kyle Young and his wife Denise. Loved grandfather of Theresa Abbey, Eddie Abbey, Andrew Abbey (Stacey), Jayme Emerson (Corey), Amanda Hart, Katrina Hart (Jordan), Ryan Schram (Nikkee), Nicole Ryerse (Dwayne), Gerrod Young, Rachel Young, Kody Young, Alex Young, Emma Young and great grandfather of Carter, Naomi, Max, Laiken, Lucan and Madison. Survived by his brothers; Gord Abbey, Robert Abbey and will be remembered by in-laws; Laurene (late Sonny) Karnes, Connie (late Glenn) Balcomb and Shirley and Garry Brandon. Predeceased by his parents Alma Jean (nee McDowell) and Archie Abbey, son Gary (1958), sisters-in-law Carole Abbey and Isabel Abbey. Clarke was a former volunteer firefighter and a member of the Optimist Club. He enjoyed farming, camping and being out of doors with his dog Tippy. He was a past employee of Pre-Con in Woodstock for over 47 years. Friends and relatives are invited to join the family at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, 519-539-0004 on Tuesday March 31, 2015 from 2:30 - 4:30 and 7-9 pm, where the complete funeral service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday at 11:00 am. Interment later in the Oxford Centre Anglican Cemetery.
