In loving memory of Walter Charles Evans, in his 86 year from Lakeside Ontario who fought a courageous battle against illness which was a testament to his strength and resilience. Husband of 63 years to Marie (nee Montague), father to Kathryn (Mike) Thornton, Daniel (Andrea), Michelle and Randy (Suzanne). Beloved “Poppa” to Cody (Emily), Colton, Chase (Hilary), Jesse (Jordi), Byron, Emma (Justin), Tianna (Collin) and Hannah (Matt). Great Grandfather to Sophie and Parker. Walt will be missed by his loved sister Carol Martin, nieces and nephews and all extended family, friends and pets. Walter loved to share friendly smiles and chats at the Tim Hortons drive-through, hardware store and with his adopted family in the Amish community.
Born in London, Ontario, Walter loved spending time on the shores of Ipperwash Beach with family where he found solace and joy. As a young man, he soared as an accomplished athlete, diver and rubbed shoulders with wrestling legends at the historic London Arena.
As a family man his true passion and dedication lay in the home farm where he was a masterful farm hand, ensuring his family thrived in the embrace of country living and the joy of raising and showing horses. Walter or “Wally” as he was affectionately known, worked for 35 years at Northern Telecom in London and Canada Stamping in Woodstock.
Through every triumph and challenge Walter's unwavering love and dedication to his family shone brightly. His beloved wife Marie will forever hold his memory close alongside their children and grandchildren who were blessed to have been embraced by their grandfather’s warmth and wisdom. “Poppa’s” spirit will forever dance among the waves of Ipperwash Beach and be part of the gentle rustle of the countryside farm he cherished. Walter Charles Evans, a father, husband, and grandfather and great grandfather leaves a legacy of love and strength that will endure, guiding us through the days ahead with cherished memories and boundless gratitude for a one-of-a-kind love in our lives. In a fitting manner Walter with his family at his side cheered on his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays during the end of his fight with a terrible illness.
