Walter Douglas Alyea

Passed away surrounded by the love of family at Woodstock Hospital on Saturday May 11, 2024, in his 83rd year. Beloved husband of Ferne Alyea (Hartsell) for 62 years. Loving father of Karen (Larry) Odell and Doug (Deb) Alyea. Cherished grandfather of Elizabeth Odell and her husband Thomas Briginshaw and Alissa Alyea and her partner Devon Mels. Dear brother-in-law to Marg Alyea, Eileen Alyea, Carol Walton, Ann (Sandy) Streatch, Elgin (Ruby) Hartsell, Eric (Kate) Hartsell, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Percy and Elsie (Parkin) Alyea, and brothers George and Howard. Walter was a lifelong member of Christ Church Oxford Centre. He loved camping, fishing, hunting, travelling with friends and attending the Country and Western dances with “the gang” and more recently car rides with Fred and Mildred Parkin. Friends are invited to join the family for visitation on Wednesday May 15th from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home (845 Devonshire Ave. 519-539-0004). A funeral service will be held on Thursday May 16 at 1 pm at Christ Church Oxford Centre with Rev. Bill White officiating. Interment to follow in Christ Church Cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Church Oxford Centre or the Alzheimer’s Society.
