EKINS -Viola Victoria Ekins passed away peacefully with family by her side at Caressant Care Nursing Home, Woodstock, on Tuesday November 5, 2013, in her 102nd year. Daughter of the late Benjamin and Viola Woodham. Beloved wife for 59 years of the late Carl Ekins. Devoted mother to three sons, Jim (Wendy) of Woodstock, John (Marilyn) of Winnipeg and Bill (David) deceased. Dear grandmother of Bob, Cathy (Kendred) Baker, Wendy (Hugo), Carl (Tawnya) and John. Great grandmother and great great grandmother of numerous great and great great grandchildren. Predeceased by her sister Irene Woodham of Woodstock and her brother Aubrey Woodham of Moorefield. Survived by her brother John Woodham of Sarnia and her sister Marion Sibley of Woodstock. Born and raised in Woodstock, Viola worked at Hyde's Drugstore prior to World War II. During the war, she resided in Halifax and Ottawa, before returning to Woodstock to raise her family. After her boys were grown, she was employed by the Bell Telephone Company. Viola was a long time member of Chalmers United Church, where she was active in the UCW. She enjoyed reading, gardening and hosting family dinners at her home on Brock Street in which she took great pride and where she lived for sixty years. The family extends thanks to Dr. Miettinen and the staff of Caressant Care Nursing Home for the care provided to Viola. Friends are invited to join the family for a time of visitation at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, 519-539-0004 on Friday November 15, 2013 from 1-2pm, where the funeral service will be held in the chapel at 2pm. with Rev.
