Verne Hughburt Macdonald

Early on May 4th, 2024 as he slept peacefully, much loved Verne H. MacDonald ushered into the presence of the Lord.

Born September 15, 1936, Verne left for heaven in his 88th year.

"Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints" Psalm 116:15.

Our confidence in Dad’s joyful reunion with parents, Jack and Eileen, wife Lorna, and son Todd along with other family and countless friends is not merely a wish or sentiment. Verne was vocal about his personal faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ as the only basis for his forgiveness. John 3:16.

This faith in Christ was passed down to him as a young man at St Mary’s Tabernacle and through he and mom, passed to their 4 sons and spouses: John & Susan, James & Kathy, Todd & Audrey, David & Rhonda. Verne and Lorna were married 54 years delighting in 14 wonderful grandchildren and 21 great grand children, each loving their Papa deeply from their hearts.

Also grieving this loss is Vernes wife since 2014 Carol Stephenson of Strathroy who faithfully cared for our father during his final years.  Also feeling this profoundly are Verne’s four beloved sisters Sandy, Cheryl, Michelle, Jonette and their families whom he saw and spoke with frequently.

The words of our Lord in Matthew 25:23 “Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your master,” ring joyously in his ears this moment, echoing as he and Lorna’s legacy to every family member and all those they loved.
