It is with very heavy hearts that the family of Stephen (Steve) Robinson Poole share news of his passing on July 13th, 2024 at the age of 63 in his hometown of Woodstock, Ontario. Steve was a proud graduate of Huron Park Secondary School, then completed his forestry technician from Sault College. While working in Long Point, he met his future wife, Kim, and they married in 1985. His career transitioned to the cheese business, when he started with Tavistock cheese in 1985, and stayed until his retirement in 2023.
Steve was a kind and hardworking man who also knew how to enjoy time with his family and friends. A lifetime of memories were made in Long Point at the family cottage where shenanigans were often in the making with his siblings. This was extended to Steve’s children, Stephanie and Clint, as they spent many summers at the cottage, and would learn of the Poole boys’ antics. Steve also enjoyed hosting his family for Pool(e) parties, which often ended in a cannon ball run to see who could make the biggest splash. Steve served as the kitchen wrangler for many years for family meals at his mother-in-law’s house. He was Loretta’s favorite and it was said that he could get away with anything while helping in the kitchen.
Being a father brought Steve the greatest joy. He loved taking Stephanie to horseback riding lessons and videotaping her successes. Clint shared in his fathers’ passion for high school football and Steve, made sure to video all of his games. The forty years Steve shared with Kim were filled so much love and laughter, hosting family gatherings, enjoying trips to Niagara Falls and visiting wineries. Steve’s legacy continues with the joy of his three grandchildren.
Many happy hours were spent with Kim as they travelled for Steve’s ball games. Steve was also an avid photographer, and spent many hours in the car with Kim looking for the perfect shot, whether a field, an animal, a rock or tree.
Steve is survived by his wife Kimberly (Boughner), his daughter Stephanie (Mitchell) and his son Clinton (Emily). He is beloved Papa to Lillie, Oliver and Violet. He is also survived by his mother Dorothy, his sisters Jan, and Tricia (John), his brothers Peter (Siobhan), Jim, John (Pauline) and Phil (Cathy), along with many nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
Steve was pre-deceased by his father Peter, his niece Emilie as well as both his mother – in- law (Loretta) and father- in- law (Jack).
