Smruti Kothari, a beloved wife and mother, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2023, in Woodstock, Ontario, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on August 2, 1958, in Mumbai, India, Smruti was a pillar of strength, love, and generosity.
Smruti studied pharmacy at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, leading to a rewarding 35-year career at Shoppers Drug Mart. She was known as a leader and close friend to many of her colleagues over the years. She was firmly dedicated to providing the utmost care to all in her community, which included volunteering as a literacy tutor through the Multi-Service Centre.
Smruti's interests reflected her vibrant and loving spirit. She found joy in reading, group fitness classes, serene walks in nature, and was a fierce Scrabble opponent. Always up for a good joke, Smruti’s infectious laugh brought a smile to everyone’s faces. A passion for travel and sense of adventure lead to many memorable family holidays abroad. Her culinary skills were exceptional, and she delighted in cooking creative and delicious meals for her family and friends. While in the kitchen, it was not uncommon to hear Sade, Tina Turner, or U2 playing in the background.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Sharad; her loving children, Janaki and Sidhanth; her sisters, Urmila Amin, Tejas Kothari, and Charu Patel; and her brothers, Siddharth and Vikram Amin. She is predeceased by her sister, Pratima Patel. She is also remembered by Sharad’s siblings; his sisters Pushpaben Sheth, Pramilaben Mehta, Bhartiben Vibakar and Prasannaben Patel; his brothers Sureshbhai Kothari, Romeshbhai Kothari, Mukeshbhai Kothari and Deepak Kothari, and their families.
Smruti's life was a testament to her grace and courage. Her radiant smile, love for her family, and commitment to her profession will be remembered by all. Her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. A funeral service will be held at the Brock & Visser Funeral Home (845 Devonshire Ave. Woodstock ON) on Saturday September 16th, 2023, at 11 am.
