Shirley Day
1926 – 2024
On November 27, 2024, Shirley Elizabeth Day (nee Quinn) left us gently and peacefully on her own terms at the age of 98. She was one of three children born to Harold and Mabel Quinn of Kintore, Ontario.
She married her hubby, Mel Day (predeceased 2011) and farmed in Thamesford, later relocating to Dorchester to a welcoming community. They had 64 years together going through life as a team.
Shirley leaves behind her two loyal and loving daughters, Carol (Ernie) Reid, Dorchester and Lois Cloutier, Springfield. She always enjoyed hearing about the lives of her grandchildren; Joanne (Harold) Kress, Lucan, Scott (Jennifer) Reid, Kitchener and Brad Cloutier (Lisa Simon), London. She was also a special Gramma Day to Stacey Belle and her family. Shirley always kept up with the life adventures of her Great Grandchildren; Ethan, Daniella, Moira (Koby), Fiona, Wilson, Gabriel and Samantha. George (Janet) Quinn, St. Mary's, Shirley's little brother remains behind with his family and the family of her little sister, Ruth (Joe) Wellington (both deceased) remain in the Sarnia area. Mrs. Day was her title at the Thamesford Public School for 30 years. She enjoyed her Unit 4, UCW Work at her church but her most recent focus other than family was knitting, puzzles and reading. She lived a very long, extremely healthy life until now and her appreciation for the care she received from all is paramount. Her many friends along the way were of extreme importance to her.
