Shirley Anne (Phillips) Cowell

Shirley Anne Cowell (Phillips), affectionately known as Shirley, was born on December 13, 1937, in London, Ontario. She passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on September 1, 2023, at Woodstock Hospital. Shirley was a loving, kind, and friendly woman who touched the lives of all who knew her.

Shirley is survived by her cherished children, Barb (Wayne) Storey, Patty (Alain) Dufour, Bert (Lynda) Cowell, Liz Smith, and Tony (Rachelle) Cowell. Her memory will be carried on by her 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-granddaughter. She was a lady of many names, like Grandma, Nana, GG, or GGC. She will also be greatly missed by her dear friend, Chris Crabbe.

Shirley was predeceased by her beloved husband, John Cowell in 2002, her son Kenny Cowell in 1982, her granddaughter Ashley in 1983, and her son-in-law Ted Smith in 2003.

Her interests were a reflection of her lively spirit. Shirley was a devoted Toronto Blue Jays fan. She found joy in working on her Find a Word puzzles and held fond memories at her trailer in Bayfield. She also loved her many Florida trips with her nieces and nephews.

In the hearts of her family and friends, Shirley's legacy of love and kindness will continue to bloom. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

There will be a private interment of Shirley’s ashes at a later date.
