Sheldon Bernard Shapiro

Sheldon a.k.a Shelley or Shell Bernard Shapiro (yes that's his middle name) born July 26 1955 quietly passed away Feb 18th 2022 in Woodstock Ontario.  Son of Louis (deceased) and Florence Shapiro (nee Fruitman)  Sheldon was one of 6 children  including Martin (deceased) Bruce (deceased) Allan,Tami and Merrill.  Sheldon was well known throughout the community as a great friend, an astute businessman and a avid sportsman.  His life long friendships were a testament to his genuine character and his generous personality.

Shell loved sports including ball hockey and golf, which dominated his athletic career.  Fall and winter Sunday afternoons were spent toiling at road hockey where he was a Superstar (at least in his own mind). Shell was one of the most tenured road hockey players Woodstock has ever known.  Look it up.  He loved watching the N H L but we never knew where his true allegiance lay.  He was also passionate about the N F L .  His dream came true this year when Tom Brady didn't make the Superbowl.  As for golf, he started swinging in early spring and followed through till the snow fell.  And Shell NEVER  uttered a curse word on the course.

Shell was a 3rd generation owner of Hudson's Furniture .  Hudson's was a department store which became a furniture store for over a century.  He made the difficult decision  to close the doors in 2018.  Shell himself worked there himself for nearly 50 years.  Sheldon was much like his father, a voracious reader who's driving curiosity lead him to various esoteric fields of human endeavour such as history, theoretical physics,  mathematics and cosmology.
