Sandra Jean Tichelaar

Sandra Jean Tichelaar, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully in her hometown of Woodstock, Ontario on July 27, 2023. Born in Woodstock on July 12, 1941, Sandra lived a life full of love, joy, and cherished memories.

Sandra was a devoted wife to her husband, Renus, with whom she shared 64 beautiful years. Together, they raised their son, Steve, who married Maria, and they were blessed with a grandson, Alex. Sandra was predeceased by her infant daughter, Stephanie Ann, in 1963, a loss that deeply affected her but also strengthened her resolve to cherish every moment with her loved ones. Sandra was the loving sister of four siblings: Robert Ross and his late wife Cheryl, the late Marilyn, and her surviving husband Bud Garton, late Betty and her late husband Jim Moyer, and the late Bill Ross. She was also sister in law to Koas & Nick Huizenga, Rita & the late John Sturris and Linda & the late Mike Berta.

Sandra's family was her world, and she was a beacon of strength and love for them all. Sandra and Renus spent their summers at their cottage in Long Point, where Sandra's love for fishing was nurtured. She found peace and tranquility in the simple act of casting a line into the water, waiting for a bite. These moments, surrounded by nature and loved ones, were among her most treasured.

It was Sandra’s wish not to have a church service. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday August 5, 2023 from 1-4 pm at the Woodstock Navy Club at 959 James St
