Sam Chatfield

November 14, 1913 — June 29, 2010

CHATFIELD - Peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, June 29, 2010. Alfred J. "Sam" Chatfield of Woodingford Lodge, Woodstock and formerly of Grosvenor St. Woodstock, in his 97th year. Beloved husband of 69 years to Celestia G. Chatfield (nee Pollard). Dear father of Edward (Marilyn) of Nova Scotia, Art (Joanne), Sandra (Walt) Langille all of Woodstock and Shelley (Rick) Thompson of Delhi. Loved grandfather of ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Dear brother of Ivy of British Columbia. Alfred served in the Army during WW II and later joining the Air Force after the war. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #55 Woodstock. Predeceased by his son Johnny Chatfield, his parents, brother, sisters, step-brothers and a step-sister. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #55 (Lounge) 576 Brant Street, Woodstock Friday July 9, 2010 from 7 to 9pm. Contributions to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated and may be arranged through the Longworth Funeral Home 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock 519-539-0004.
