Brothers and Sisters in Christ, we gather today to celebrate the homegoing of a beloved man of faith, Ronald "Ron" Culp, who was called to his eternal rest on September 30, 2024, at the age of 73. Born on September 29, 1951, in the humble town of Arthur, Ontario, Ron was a beacon of light to all who knew him, and he passed from this life in Woodstock, Ontario, leaving behind a legacy of love and service.
Ron's life was a testament to the enduring power of love. It was love that brought him and his cherished wife, Clara, together on the dance floor, and it was love that sustained them through the years. Together, they loved their beautiful family, including their daughters Rhonda and her husband Scott Raines, Robyn Kelly, Beka and her husband Isaiah Garrett, Ragan and her husband Joel Scott, Stephanie and her husband Shane Sauer, and their son Steve Szymanski. Ron was a proud grandfather to Sara, Ethan, Jacob, Aaron, Ian, Carson, Corbin, Gryffin, Madeleine, Morgan, Logan, Lainey, Brooklyn, Toby, Adam, Penelope, and Vada. His heart swelled with joy at the mention of each of their names.
Ron is survived by his loving brother, Don Culp, and his dear sister, Lillian Jewer. He now joins his brothers Jim, Stan, Victor, and Grant Culp, who preceded him in glory. The family of nieces and nephews that Ron leaves behind will forever cherish the memories of their kind-hearted uncle.
An alumnus of Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Ron's commitment to education was matched only by his dedication to his work. A man of many talents, Ron's career journey saw him take on roles as a factory worker, electrician apprentice, Youth Pastor, and small business owner. In each position, he exemplified the virtues of hard work and integrity.
Ron's interests were as varied as they were joyful. He was an avid curler, and his love for the sport was only matched by his love for card games and board games. But above all, his greatest passion lay in serving the Lord at Huron Park Baptist Church. As an Elder, a Deacon, and a devoted volunteer in youth ministry, Ron poured his heart into nurturing the faith of others.
As we reflect on Ron's life, we are reminded of the words of Scripture, so eloquently stated by the Apostle Paul: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." (2 Timothy 4:7). Ron lived these words, fighting the good fight with a loving, faith-filled, and friendly spirit that touched everyone he met.
Today, as we bid farewell to our dear brother in Christ, let us hold fast to the memories of his laughter, his unwavering faith, and the countless lives he touched. Ron Culp was a man who lived by the principle that to serve God is to serve others, and his life was a beautiful reflection of this belief.
Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we rejoice in the knowledge that Ron is now in the presence of our Lord and Savior, where there is no more cancer, no more pain, but only the peace and joy of everlasting life.
Let us carry forward the light that Ron shone so brightly in this world, knowing that his spirit lives on in each act of kindness we perform, in every moment we share with our loved ones, and in the quiet times we spend in prayer and reflection.
As we commend Ronald "Ron" Culp to the arms of our Heavenly Father, we take solace in the promise of the resurrection, where we shall one day be reunited in that glorious place prepared for us. Until then, may we honor Ron's memory by living lives that reflect the love and grace he so freely gave.
Rest in peace, dear Ron. Your race is complete, and you have indeed kept the faith.
