Ron Young

Ronald Douglas Young, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2024, at Woodstock Hospital, the same town where he was born on December 31, 1937. Known affectionately as Ron to all, his life was a testament to service, love, and dedication.

Ron's journey began as a proud member of the Royal Canadian Navy, where he served for five years, instilling in him a sense of discipline and camaraderie that he carried throughout his life. After leaving the R.C.N. he continued to embody the spirit of a hero, serving as a firefighter for 30 years in Woodstock. His bravery and commitment to protecting the lives of others earned him the respect and admiration of the Woodstock community. Ron was an avid member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Woodstock, and the Woodstock Navy Club.

In 1958, Ron married the love of his life, Lois Young (nee Workman), and together they raised a family. Their union was blessed with three sons: Randy, married to Lisa; Paul; and Cory, married to Michelle. Ronald's legacy continued to flourish through his cherished grandchildren, Randi, married to Kyle Burnside, and Taylor, and two great grandchildren, Bennett and Senna, who brought immense joy and pride to his golden years.

Ron's brother Bill, with his wife Wendy, and sister Marjorie,  will remember him fondly.

Ron's life was one of unwavering service, both in his professional endeavors and in his personal relationships. His absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him, yet his spirit will continue to inspire those he left behind. Ronald Douglas Young's story is not one of an end but a lasting legacy of a life well-lived and a man well-loved.

Keeping with Ron's wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. If desired, memorial contributions to the Woodstock Royal Canadian Legion would be greatly appreciated.

A Celebration of Ron's Life will be held on July 7th, 2024 from 1:00-3:00pm at the Woodstock Navy Club (959 James St, Woodstock, ON N4S 8X8)
