Roland "Rolly" Lavin

Rolly passed suddenly at the Woodstock General Hospital October 13, 2024.

He was the beloved husband of Gillian (Harwood) and very proud, loving father of Jason (Jeannie) Lavin, Jordan (Deanna) Lavin and Randy (Lisa) Meggs

He cherished his role as Gramps to DL (Ilan) Friedner, Tova (Yakov) Hochman, Ariel (Taylor) Lavin, Avi Lavin and Coral, Chaya ( Daniel) Manne, Morgan Lavin, Turner Lavin, Ella Lavin ,and Caelan Meggs He was always in attendance at their major events and activities.

The many great-grandchildren were a delight sure to elicit a big smile.

Surviving are nieces, nephew and cousins.

Predeceased by his brother Donald and parents William and Mabel Lavin and “his other “parents Roy and Mabel Harwood.

Rolly was a highly respected businessman and ambassador for Woodstock. He was a Board Member of the Chamber of Commerce, BIA, Family Y, Minor Ball Assoc., Minor Hockey Assoc. He coached hockey and baseball for many years and many of his teams went on to league, regional and provincial championships.

He was awarded both the Canadian Award of Merit and the Governor General Medal for Volunteer Contributions to Community for his passion for giving back to his community.

His travels with Jill up and down the Trent-Severn-Rideau systems were the best of summers.

Wintering in Florida and travelling often to Europe and most North America destinations completed their adventure list.

Golfing with “his guys” was his special hobby and any time spent with his family was his happiest place.

Rolly was a good, decent man. He will be greatly missed.

A private family committal service will be held.

A reception will be held on Sunday October 20, 2024 from 5-8 pm at Brock and Visser Funeral Home (845 Devonshire Ave 519-539-0004)
