Robert James Aspden, known affectionately as Jim or Aspy, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2023. Born on December 5, 1927, Jim lived a life full of love, hard work, and dedication to his community.

Jim was a beloved husband to his late wife, Clara (nee Eltom), and a devoted father to his children, Lynda Anderson (Doug), Pam (late Don) Pooley, Randy (Ada) Aspden, and Diane Van Meer (Scotty Roberston). He was a cherished grandfather to Christie (Tina) Packer, Jamie Packer, Sarah (Ryan) Harmer, Chris (Stephanie) Pooley, Andy (Tina) Van Meer, and Tracy (T.J.) McNamara. Step-grandchildren Ian Anderson (Hilary), Karis Anderson (Katy). Great grandchildren Hayden, Claire, Gage, Finn and Beau Harmer, Evelyn and Chelsea Pooley, Kellan Bollman, Carly and Wesley Van Meer, Bentley and Brinnley McNamara, Joel, Owen, Ben and Nathan Anderson, Emmett Quinlan.  Jim was the last surviving member of his family predeceased by his 9 siblings.


Jim was a man of many talents and passions. He was the founder of Dual Temp Products, a testament to his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to providing quality products. He also started Aspden Renovations with his son Randy. He was a partner with Clara and Diane in Di-Namic Travel. His work ethic was unparalleled, and his dedication to his business was a reflection of his character - steadfast, reliable, and always striving for excellence.

Beyond his professional life, Jim was deeply involved in his community. He was a proud member of the Craigowan Golf Club and the Navy Club, where he formed many lasting friendships. His leadership skills were evident in his role as the past president of the Home Builders Association and the Kinsmen Club. His commitment to these organizations was a testament to his belief in the power of community and the importance of service.

He was also a past member of Standardbred Canada, reflecting his love for horses and the sport of harness racing.

In every facet of his life, Jim Aspden was a man of integrity, kindness, and unwavering commitment. He leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and community service that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. His memory will be cherished by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of crossing paths with him.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday October 18, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Followed by a Memorial Service on Thursday October 19. 2023 at 11 am held at Brock and Visser Funeral Home (845 Devonshire Ave. 519-539-0004)
