MONTGOMERY - Robert William Montgomery passed away suddenly, at his Embro home, Nov. 29th, 2004. Mr. Montgomery was born in East Oxford Township Dec. 22nd, 1922. The family moved to Woodstock where Mr. Montgomery attended Woodstock Public School and W.C.I.. He worked for T.L. Hay Company, and Maple Dairy before entering the Canadian Army in 1942. He trained in London, Chatham, Valcartier and Montreal. He was transferred to Artillery Branch #44 and was sent overseas in 1944 serving in North Western Europe. He returned to Canada in 1946, where he married Ellen Irene Johnson (Pte CWAC) of Beatty, Saskatchewan. They had three children and six grandchildren. Robert was a member of the Woodstock Police Department, and worked for the Oxford Regional Centre for 35 years until his retirement in 1983. He is survived by his wife Ellen, children; Donna Hiuser Garner (Ross), J. Richard Montgomery (Kathy), and Randy Montgomery (Joanne) all of Embro, and grandchildren Paula Hiuser of Laconia, New Hampshire, Tracy Hiuser of Embro, Angela Montgomery of Kingston, Chelsey Montgomery, Kierstin Montgomery and Chantal Montgomery all at home. Friends may call at the R.D. Longworth Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock (539-0004) on Wednesday 7-9 pm where the funeral service will be held in the chapel Thursday at 11:00 am with Rev. Ken Charlton officiating. Interment in the North Embro Cemetery.
