MATHESON, Robert Campbell - Died peacefully at the Woodstock General Hospital on Thursday May 7, 2009 in his 90th year. Born on January 12, 1920 in West Zorra Twp. to parents Robert Alexander Matheson and Agnes (nee Welfare) Matheson. Loving husband of Betty (nee Whetstone) Matheson. Betty and Bob had celebrated 65 years of marriage on November 6, 2008. Beloved father of Jack, Al (Anne), Gary (Debbie), Ken (Marlene) all of Embro and Joan Hobbs (Lloyd) of Hamilton. Proud grandfather of Dean Matheson (Brandy), Nicholas Matheson (Meagan), Jeff Leonhardt (Kim), Kevin Leonhardt, Gregory, Ryan, Andrew & Kurtis Matheson, Jason Alexander (Beth), Jennifer & Robert Hobbs. Great grandfather of Wade & Alaina Matheson & Mason Alexander. Predeceased by grandsons Dale & Dennis Matheson, sisters Margaret Monteith (Jim), Annie Isabelle Woods (Russ), brother Donald Matheson, brothers-in-law Warren Whetstone & George Matheson. Survived by his in-laws Jean Matheson, Donna Matheson, Ray and Helen Whetstone, Verna Whetstone and many special nieces and nephews. Robert was a longtime dairy farmer at RR# 3 Embro. Bob was the last Reeve of West Zorra Twp. and first Mayor of Zorra Twp. in 1975. He was a 50 year member of Embro Thistle Masonic Lodge and Co-Chairman of the Embro West Zorra Community Centre Building Committee. Bob was also a longtime member of Zorra Caledonian Society, Embro Agricultural Society, Embro Optimist Club and Knox Presbyterian Church, Embro. A memorial service to celebrate Bob's life will be held at the Knox Presbyterian Church, Embro on Sunday May 17, 2009 at 3:00 pm with Rev. James Knott officiating. Interment was held in the North Embro Cemetery.
