Rick Zielinski

June 11, 1952 — October 25, 2024

It is with great sadness that we share the sudden passing of our husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Richard “Rick” Zielinski in his 73rd year at Woodstock General Hospital on Friday, October 25th, 2024.  Rick was surrounded in love in his final moments by his family.  His wife Janice, daughters Amanda and Heather, son-in-law Jake, sister Krystyna Zielinski and brother Eddy Zielinski (Mary Zielinski), as well as his niece Rosalie Zielinski-Lawrence(Bryan) and nephew Stephen Zielinski. Rick is survived by, and will be remembered as the most beloved husband and partner to his loving wife and caregiver, Janice Zielinski (nee Wallingford) of nearly 50 years.  Adored father to Amanda Zielinski (Jake Hamm) and Heather Zielinski (Jonathan Tschirhart).  The proudest grandpa to Carter (Chatfield), Mia and Noah (Hamm).  He is survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Mel and Carole Wallingford and Marty and Jane Wallingford as well as his nieces and nephews.  Predeceased and reunited in heaven with his parents, Tadeusz and Katarzyna Zielinski and his special granddaughter, baby Elena Janice Hamm (2018), who we know he is holding tightly in his arms. Rick was a proud and hardworking electrician from Timmins, Ontario, where he was born and raised. He spent many years working in Kidd Creek Mines before moving his family to London, Ontario in 1988. Shortly after moving, he started working at Kellogg’s in London, Ontario, where he retired just prior to its closure in 2012.  Rick will be forever remembered for his sense of humour, always the jokester, and incredible stubbornness, not to mention his speedy exits, even in his passing. He left us far too quickly following a brief illness and ongoing dementia.  Family was everything to Rick, with his love for the Chicago Blackhawks being a very close second.  A special thank you to the nurses and doctors at Woodstock General Hospital - who cared for our Rick with compassion in his final days. Friends and relatives are invited to join the family at Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock ( 519-539-0004 ), on Friday, November 1st, 2024, from 6 to 8 pm. The funeral service will take place on Saturday at 11am. Cremation will follow. If desired, memorial contributions to the Alzheimer Society would be greatly appreciated and may be arranged online at wwww.brockandvisser.com
