TOWN - Suddenly at his home on October 14, 2009. Richard Beaumont "Monte" Town in his 82nd year. Beloved husband of Ruth (nee Budd) Town for over 54 years. Loving father of Ted and partner Raquel of London, Jill and partner Noreen of Winnipeg, Peggy and partner Leah of Peterborough, and Jennifer and partner Ernest of Toronto. Grandfather to Savannah and Dillon Stevens of Winnipeg and Maya and Alejandro Lopez-Town of London. Survived by his sister-in-law Elizabeth Mayberry and brother-in-law Bill Budd (Reta) all of RR# 1, Beachville. Predeceased by his parents Ted and Olive, sisters Dorothea and Donna, brother Allan and brother-in-law Glen Mayberry. Known for his custom home building and renovations throughout Oxford County, Monte also had a life long love of music. He sang at Massey Hall as a teenager. He was a past Warden of Old St. Paul's Anglican Church and a church choir member for over 60 years where he sang in the choir loft this past Thanksgiving Sunday. He played trumpet in three marching bands; The Woodstock Imperials, The Old Elgin Regiment, and The London Mocha Temple Shrine. He also played trombone with the Mocha Concert Band. Monte was Past President of the Ingersoll Curling Club. He was a life member of the Oxford Masonic Lodge, No. 76 A.F. & A.M., a 50 year member of the Mocha Temple Shrine, and fittingly, a member of the Royal Order of Jesters. Friends may call at the Longworth Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, 519-539-0004 on Friday October 16, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A service of remembrance will be held at Old St. Paul's Anglican Church, 723 Dundas St., Woodstock on Saturday at 1:30 pm with Rev. Bruce Genge officiating. Cremation.
