POORT, Richard - At his home with his loving family by his side on Wednesday October 26, 2011. Richard "Dick" Poort of Woodstock in his 77th year. Beloved husband of Alida (nee deWit) Poort for over 53 years. Dear father of Bill and his wife Margaret of Woodstock, Jean Twynstra and her husband Joe of Cathcart, Nellie Los and her husband Chris of Woodstock and Pauline Naftel and her husband Dave of Ottawa. Loved grandfather of Alida (Rick), Jonathon (Karen), Genevieve (John), Sebastian (Heather), Kaitlin, Victor, Kevin, Amy, Alex, Laura, Emily, Miranda, Gwen, Daniel and great grandfather to Addisyn, Jacob, Landyn, Isaac, Kurtis and Alayna. Dear brother of Sylvia Vanderlei (Peter), Pete Poort (Hannah) and Deak Poort (Katie). Predeceased by his son John (1977). Dick was well known for his masonry work, he co-owned and operated Poort and Sonder Masonry for many years. He was a longtime member of Covenant Christian Reformed Church. Friends may call at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, 519-539-0004 on Friday October 28, 2011 from 3-5 and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held at the Covenant Christian Reformed Church, Lansdowne Ave., Woodstock on Saturday at 2:00 pm. Interment to follow at the Oxford Memorial Park Cemetery.
