Richard Arthur Gray (86) of Woodstock Ontario passed away March 20, 2024 (1937-2024)
Known as Dick to his many friends and coworkers, he had a long and distinguished career in journalism. Beginning in radio in the late 50s, Dick became a reporter at CHCH TV in Hamilton in the early 60s and subsequently News Director, a position he held until 1982 when he resigned to teach Broadcast Journalism at Mohawk College also in Hamilton. Several of his students went on to serve as news reporters and anchors on television.
In 1985 his longtime friend and pioneer TV ministry host David Mainse asked Dick to help Crossroads Communication become licensed as the first fully operational Christian TV station in Canada. After much hard work and prayer CTS launched in 1998 with Dick serving as the President. He continued in this role until his retirement in 2007 .
He is survived by his wife of 63 years BettyAnn, his son Kevin & wife Carol of Woodstock ON, his son Brad & wife Barb of Santa Rosa CA, his daughter Cathie & husband Jason of Ottawa ON, along with grandchildren Jon, Marilyn, Victoria, Steven, Jordan, Jonathan, Nicole, David, Alana, and Sam and great grandchildren Lyra, Liam, Isabella, Hudson, Levi, Freya and Isla.
Family and friends are invited to visit with the family at Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock on Wednesday, May 8th, 2024 from 10:30am to 11:30am with a service in the chapel at 11:30.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to 100 Huntley Street.
For those who are unable to attend, the service for Mr. Richard Gray will be live-streamed. There will be a link added at service time.
