Rev. Dr. Muriel Margaret Carder

November 1, 1922 — June 14, 2023

Rev. Dr. Muriel Carder, affectionately known as "Moo," passed away peacefully on June 14, 2023, in Woodstock, ON. Born on November 1, 1922, in Woodford Green, Essex, Muriel lived a long and fulfilling life, leaving a lasting impact on her family, friends, and the countless lives she touched through her work and interests.

She is survived by her loving family members Kim (Carolann) and Karen (Bob), and grandchildren Zoe and Andrew.

Upon graduating from McMaster University in 1947, Muriel was ordained as a Canadian Baptist Church Minister.  Her dedication to her faith and community took her across the globe, where she served in India as a missionary for 30 years. During her time in India, Moo worked tirelessly in schools, hospitals, and on bible translation projects, helping to bring the Word of God to the Telugu-speaking population. Upon her return to Canada, Moo continued her ministry as a chaplain at the Oxford Regional Centre and Woodstock Hospital, providing spiritual guidance and support to those in need.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Muriel had a passion for gardening and badminton and being a Big Sister. Her love for these was evident in the beautiful gardens she cultivated and the joy she took in playing badminton and her wonder “Little” Sister. Muriel’s interests were a testament to her vibrant spirit and her ability to find beauty and joy in the world around her.
