MARTEL, Rene - At Sakura House on Wednesday August 1, 2012. Rene Martel of Woodstock in his 72nd year. Beloved husband of Antoinette "Toni" (nee Dahl) Martel for over 46 years. Dear father of Michelle Vervaecke (Moe) of Embro, Louise Bihari (Attila) and Danny Martel (Niki) all of Woodstock. Loved grandfather of Titan, Maddox, Tori, Olivia, Attila jr., Emily, Paige and Dani. Dear brother of Jacques, Solange, Roger, Charliez, Claude, Micheline, Gilles and Carolle and will be remembered by his sisters and brothers-in-law, many nieces and nephews and extended family. Predeceased by his parents Alphonse and Henrietta Martel and by his sisters Jeanine and Denise. Rene was first and foremost a Montreal Candiens fan...."Go Habs Go". He participated in many sports organizations in Woodstock including Old Timers Hockey and Baseball. Rene was an employee of the Catholic School Board as custodian in area Catholic Schools. Friends are welcome to join the family at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, 519-539-0004 on Monday August 6, 2012 from 7-9 pm, and again on Tuesday from 2:30 - 4:30 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Celebration will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, 904 Dundas St., Woodstock on Wednesday at 11:00 am. Cremation to follow.
