Thomson, Phyllis Muriel (Mowbray)– Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 17th, 2021, at the Woodstock General Hospital in her 89th year. Devoted wife of the late Dr. John Douglas Thomson (2016). Beloved mother of Christopher (Nancy) Thomson, Jeffrey Thomson, Janet Thomson, Cameron Thomson, and Ian Thomson. Cherished grandmother of Samuel Thomson, Joseph (Kayla) Thomson, Aaron Thomson, Tawnya Thomson, and Brandon Thomson. Predeceased by her dear siblings Jean Fountain and Milton (Gwen) Mowbray and her parents Ralph and Janet Mowbray. Phyllis loved to sew, read, knit, decorate, and was very artistic. Her dedication to her friends and community was evident in the numerous clubs and associations she was a part of; the G.R. Green I.O.D.E. Chapter, the Woodstock YMCA, Woodstock Swim Club, Woodstock Rowing Club, and the Ontario Rowing Association. Phyllis was inducted into the Woodstock Sports Wall of Fame for her many leadership contributions to the community. She was a nurse at Woodstock General Hospital in the mid 1950’s and after her children were raised, worked at Caressant Care until her retirement. Even though Phyllis was a very active member of these associations, she always managed to put the importance of family above everything else. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date. If desired, memorial contributions to The Hospital for Sick Children – Toronto (Sick Kids), would be appreciated and may be arranged through the Brock and Visser Funeral Home (519-539-0004). Expressions of love and sympathy may be placed and viewed online at www.brockandvisser.com
