It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Phyllis Jean Holmes, who passed away at Woodingford Lodge Ingersoll ON on Friday, February 25 at the age of 93.
Phyllis was born in Petiticodiac NB on September 28, 1928 to the late John and Flossie (McCully) Davidson. After graduating from Petiticodiac High School she trained as an RN at the Moncton General Hospital. She worked as an OR nurse in hospitals in Moncton, Woodstock, Ottawa and later worked for the VON in Oxford County.
She and Jim married in 1951 in Petitcodiac NB. His career with Canada Cement Lafarge took them to a number of communities and they finally settled in Woodstock where they retired.
In their retirement, they enjoyed travelling across Canada visiting family. They also enjoyed travelling abroad. Phyllis enjoyed her piano, her church and the company of family and friends.
Phyllis is survived by her children; Karl (Pauline) of Hawkesbury ON, Michael (Julie) of Brampton ON, Douglas (Cheryl) of Winnipeg MB and Brenda (Nicholas) of Qualicum Beach BC, six grandchildren; Christopher, Brian, Scott, Signy, Tegan and Sarah, four great grandchildren, her brother Ronald Davidson (Marilyn) as well as many nieces and nephews.
Phyllis is predeceased by her husband James who passed away in 2003, her brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Eleanor Davidson, her sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Clem Powell and her grandchild Nigel Batchelor.
The family would like to thank Dr. Louzada at the London Health Sciences Centre, Dr. Nichols of Woodstock and staff at Woodingford Lodge for their care and dedication. A special thank you goes to Joanne Penny and the wonderful ladies who brought light and laughter to her later years.
Friends and family are invited to gather at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home in Woodstock (519-539-0004) on Thursday March 3rd at 10:30am for a time of visitation with a service to follow in the Funeral Home chapel at 11am. RSVP via the Brock and Visser website www.brockandvisser.com is required to attend, and a livestream of the service will be available as well. Online condolences may be made or viewed at the same website.
A private family internment ceremony will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Petiticodiac NB at a later date. If desired, memorial contributions to VON Sakura house would be appreciated, and may be arranged through the Brock and Visser Funeral Home.
