Peggy Johnson, a beacon of love, light, and laughter, embarked on her final journey on November 6, 2023, in Woodstock, Ontario. Born on August 28, 1938, in the heart of England, she was a radiant soul who lived her life with purpose, passion, and an unwavering commitment to service.
Peggy was the cherished daughter of Hugh and Dorothy Reynolds, who brought her into this world, and George and Rita Longbottom, who lovingly adopted her. From these strong roots sprouted a life that was full, vibrant, and marked by an extraordinary capacity for love. Peggy was the beloved wife of the late Raymond Johnson and a devoted mother to Steven, Lynne, Michael (Paula), and Graham. She was a doting grandmother to Steven Poelman, Terra Pilkey, Kari McArthur, Sabrina McArthur, Dustin Johnson, Daniel Johnson, Nicholas Johnson and Tyler Walker, and a proud great-grandmother to Cole, Abbey, Cassandra, Jaxon, and the angelic Grayson, who preceded her in death in February 2023.
Peggy was a woman of many talents and interests, but it was her boundless energy, infectious cheerfulness, and unwavering spirit of helpfulness that endeared her to all. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, and her flower garden was a testament to her nurturing spirit, where she lovingly tended to each bloom, mirroring her approach to life and relationships.
She was a dedicated volunteer at local nursing homes, where she brought comfort, companionship, and a sense of community to those she served. Her commitment to service extended to the Church of the Epiphany, where she passionately participated in bell ringing alongside her husband Raymond
Her legacy is not one of material possessions, but of the immeasurable impact she left on the hearts and lives of those she encountered. Her life was a testament that the measure of our lives is not in years, but in the love we spread and the smiles we inspire.
Peggy Johnson's life was a beautiful testament to the power of love, the strength of spirit, and the beauty of a life lived in service to others. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on, inspiring those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Family and friends will be received at the Brock & Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Avenue, Woodstock (519-539-0004) on Saturday, November 11, 2023 from 11am to 1pm. If so desired, donations may be made in Peggy’s honour to the Alzheimer’s Society.
