CHOROSTIL, Paula
Paula Chorostil (nee Koval) of Vaughan (and longtime resident of Woodstock) passed away at Mackenzie Health, Richmond Hill on January 16, 2025, in her 87th year of life, surrounded by her family. Loving mother of Roman (Simone), Markian and Nadya (Andrew). Beloved Baba (grandma) of Erika (Tim), Lauren, Cameron (Kendra), Alexander, GianLuca and Larissa. Paula was thrilled to welcome great-granddaughter Ivy last year. Caring aunt of many nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her sister Sophie (Ihor) and brother-in-law Bohdan. Paula was predeceased by her beloved husband Ewhen, parents Sophia and Yuri, brother Michael (Leida), sisters Maria (Steve), Anna (Steve), Helen (Ollie) and Irene. Paula taught night school for several years in Woodstock while raising her children and was a community volunteer for many charities. She was a proud Baba and continued instilling values of education in her grandchildren. She also volunteered at the Holy Dormition Monastery alongside Ewhen, deep in their faith. Paula enjoyed skiing, sailing and biking. In later years, she travelled with Ewhen to countries and cultures she had always hoped to experience in person. Although devastated by Ewhen's passing in 2017, Paula strove to remain strong for her family. She found living alone more difficult, and in 2020 moved to live with her daughter's family. It was important to her, however, to stay in touch with her dear friends in Woodstock, with whom she shared many fond memories. Paula continued to care about everyone's wellbeing, even as her own health challenges arose. She was always looking forward, hoping for a good outcome. Vichnaya Pamyat!
