With great sadness, the Vander Vecht family announces the passing of Paul Vander Vecht on Friday, April 28. He passed quietly at home and is now at peace with his beloved pup Hercules. He will be dearly missed by his mother, Nancy (Ken Judge). Paul will be sadly missed by his siblings, Nikki Vander Vecht (Bruce), Amanda Pruim (Vincent), Stephanie Keeping (Derek), and his twin, Nathan VanderVecht (Tanya). Paul was a special uncle to his nieces and nephews – Kayla, Malachi, Colin, Lyrika, Finnley, Myles and Owen; they were the lights of his life and will miss him terribly. Survived by his adoring Oma Lucille (late Henry) Schepers. Predeceased by father Peter, and grandparents George and Tina VanderVecht.
The family would like to share their gratitude to the PSWs from Cheshire for all of the care they provided him. In spite of his physical challenges, Paul led a productive and happy life that was brimming with his varied interests. Paul constantly sought and embraced new creative outlets, debated current affairs with anyone who could participate, and was always trying to get people around him to laugh. Though his MD forced him to isolate these past three years, he still maintained a positive attitude and made many new online friends while playing strategy-based video games.
Paul will be missed by his extended family and many friends, who will be invited to share stories of his adventures at his celebration of life to be held on Saturday May 6th from 2-4 pm held at Brock and Visser Funeral Home (845 Devonshire Ave.)
In lieu of flowers, Paul requested donations be made to Muscular Dystrophy Canada in support of research.
