Courageously on January 2, 2025 in his 84th year Norman Patterson originally from Sudbury having grown up in Long Branch Toronto passed away.  Loving husband to Mary Anne Cotnam of Pembroke Ontario for 53 years. Loving father to Kelly Anne (deceased 2022), Bradley Robert Patterson (Elizabeth, grandson Trenton), Jason Beatty Patterson (Donna Kroll).

Norm had 7 siblings, Diane, Sharon (deceased 2022) Ray, Brenda, Wayne, Gord, Ron (Deceased 2024) Predeceased by his Parents Orville 1971 and Dorothy 1973 Patterson.

Norman grew up in Long Branch neighbourhood of Toronto. He met his wife Mary Anne at a single parents dance in 1971. As the story goes Many Anne almost didn’t go but her friend Bill insisted and drove her there. They fell in love almost instantly and remained in love for 53 years. They had an amazing marriage which is very rare these days. Mary Anne and Norman always loved each other and were each others soul mates and best friends. His favourite place in the world was the cottage he built with Mary Anne on Red Rock Road, Round Lake in Renfrew. This land was special to Mary Anne as it was her parents property since 1956.

Norman’s favourite hobby was fishing and took his boys Jason and Bradley fishing often. He instilled his love of fishing to his grandson Trenton. His favourite fishing place was the Bailey Bridge on the Bonnechere River. He has memories fishing there from the 1970’s to 2017. To say Norman was generous would be an understatement. He would give you the shirt off his shirt off his back even if it meant he would do without. He also would cook meals for anyone and often had a summer BBQ for all his neighbour’s at Round Lake. If you came to visit him expect to be fed! He also loved spending time with his many siblings, nieces , nephews and had them to Round Lake often. He made sure the new cottage had 6 bedrooms so he could have many of his siblings and families visit together. Norman was always a very outgoing and talkative individual and would stop and say hi and talk to anyone on the street even if they looked like they were in a gang. Norm never complained about anyone or anything.

Norman worked on the Avrow Arrow and after Black Friday found a job at American Motors in Brampton where he worked for 30 years. When he started there in 1961 they manufactured 4 vehicles a day. He had many jobs there over the years and helped support the production of over 1 million Jeep YJ’s at the plant on Kennedy and Steeles. Norman took great pride in his work and dedication to the company taking only one or two sick days over 30 years when his boss made him take the days off! He retired from Chrysler in February 1991 at the age of 49 and enjoyed many years of retirement.

He also enjoyed his time as an army Cadet leader.

Norman will be interred in Chalk River, at Forest View Cemetery on his wife’s Mary Anne's Great Grandmothers farm land. No visitation or funeral. In lieu of flowers donations to the Kidney Foundation or Parkinson’s donation.
