Norine Ethel (Jones) Stirling

April 27, 1937 — March 25, 2005

STIRLING - Suddenly at Woodstock General Hospital on Friday March 25, 2005. Norine E. Stirling (nee Jones) of Mohawk St., Woodstock in her 68th year. Loved wife of John R. Stirling for 47 years. Dear mother of Cheri Bilodeau (Mike) of Prince George, B.C., Tracey Gjernes (Russ) of Kamloops B.C., grandchildren Ashley, Sean, Randy, Cam, Luke, and great grandchild Dreyden. Norine is also survived by her sisters Shirley MacDonald (Bob) of Stratford and Alice South (Nelson) of Eastwood. Norine was predeceased by her son Randy Stirling. Mom was born in Ingersoll in 1937. In highschool she excelled in academics and sports. She was known as "Spike" and "Stretch" on the basketball court and track. She joined the forces so she could follow the love of her life, John, to Trenton where he was stationed. After John and Norine married, they moved around the world with their two girls and finally returned to their roots in the late 1980's. Mom was a hard worker, no matter what job she did. It wasn't unusual for her position to be filled by 2 or more people when she took another job. Among many places, mom worked at CCM in Toronto, the school board in British Columbia, and the Canadian Embassy in Washington, D.C. She was known for her honesty. She loved music, loved to dance, and crocheted many beautiful afghans and baby sets. Her passion in her later years was bingo. Mom was there an hour early with her seven bingo dabbers to make sure she got her usual seat. Her recipes will be treasured and followed to a "T", by Cheri. Friends may call at the R.D. Longworth Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Avenue, Woodstock (539-0004) on Tuesday March 29, 2005 from 7-9pm, where the memorial service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday at 11:00am with Rev. Lonnie Atkinson officiating. Contributions to the Woodstock General Hospital Building Fund would be appreciated. Online condolences at www.longworthfuneralhome.com.
