DOWNHAM, Nanette Gwendolyne- Peacefully at People Care Long Term Care in Tavistock, on July 22, 2014 Nanette Gwendolyne Downham (nee Pyart) in her 83rd year. Predeceased by her husband Leslie Downham in 2006. Nan emigrated from England with Leslie and four children; Ruth, Jacqueline, Gillian and Kay in 1957. Roger was born not long after, then they had their 6th and final child Kimberley. They raised their six children and lived a very busy life in Ingersoll. Mum worked at Essex Wire in Ingersoll, Pow Laboratories in Woodstock and then in the early seventies she started her career with Oxford Social Services, working as a Social Worker for twenty five years. Mum and Dad moved to Woodstock after all of their children were grown and had a blessed life together. When Mum retired in the mid 90's she and Dad had many wonderful travels. They took pride in supplying Bibles and Gospel teaching on one of their trips to many school children in Cuba. Although they travelled extensively, Mum's favourite holiday was her trip with Dad to Israel. Mum also took every opportunity to give and offer support where needed. When Dad passed away Mum moved to Braemar Valley Park where she started a new life of her own and made many friends there. She has been strong in prayer support for her children, her sixteen grandchildren, her thirteen great grandchildren as well as all other family members and freinds. If you knew Mum, she prayed for you. Although they settled into life in Canada and loved their life here, Mum always had a place reserved in her heart for her beloved England. She will be greatly missed by her children Ruth Downham, Jackie Zavitz (Harold), Gill Davey (Tony), Kay Armstrong, Roger Downham (Kayleen), Kim Knott (Bill). Her grandchildren Sarah (Kevin), Dylan, David, Lesley (Mike) , Ashley, Dean, Annastasia (Ryan), Kinglsey (Meagen), Christopher (Michelle), Nicole (Julien), Bianca, Elizabeth, Alexander, Ian, Justin (Amanda)and Laura (Dustin) and thirteen great grandchildren. Also, by her sisters Maureen, Pam and brother Terry as well as many nieces and nephews and cousins in England. Mum leaves behind a large family who loved her very much and an extraordinary legacy of faith. Mum loved us all very deeply. We will miss her greatly.
