Monna Kish

KISH, Monna - Peacefully, in her 67th year, at Woodstock Hospital, in the evening of January 19, 2015. Monna Lorraine Kish, the dear wife of 35 years, of the late Gene Bender. Beloved mother of Sherry Snider (Jim), Angela Bender (Jim), Christina Vince (Chris), and the late Patrick Drew Bender. Beloved grandmother of Melissa (Trevor), Eric (Stephanie), Evan, Jayden, Drennan, and Grayson. Dear great-grandmother of Katja and Othneil. Missed by her brothers Roy Nutley (Ginger) and Dale Insley (Rebecca) and her sisters Carol Steinberg (Paul) and Mary Lou Laurie(Steve). Monna is predeceased by her parents Harold and Eva Insley and her nephew Christopher. She will be missed by her nieces and nephews and by her long time friend and roommate Joanne King. Monna will be remembered as a strong, independent, determined, and hard working woman. She worked for years at Harvey Woods and was involved in several entrepreneurial endeavours such as "The Happy Cooker", "G & R Catering", "Honer's Variety and Catering", and "Dickie Dee Ice Cream". She enjoyed reading novels, playing cards, especially a competitive game of "spoons", knitting and a sci-film at the movie theatre. Trips to Prince Edward County in her younger years, and to the south of Texas with Gene in her later years which created fond memories and vast circles of friends. Monna's joy for sewing is forever stitched in her precious quilts which were created and given away with love. As cremation has already taken place, friends and relatives are invited to join the family in a celebration of Monna's life on Saturday, February 7, 2015, from 2 to 4pm at the Moose Family Centre, 690 Sutherland Drive, Woodstock. Memorial contributions will be accepted with gratitude, and may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Woodstock Hospital, and may be arranged through the funeral home.
