Mildred Grace Slater

SLATER, Mildred G. - We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Mildred Grace Slater ( nee Smith) University Hospital, London on Sunday January 14, 2018. Mildred was the loving wife of Trevor J Slater (2013) for 67 years, devoted mother of Brenda Turnbull ( Stephen ) of Woodstock, Judith Nowell ( Richard) of London and Danielle Stewart ( John ) of Woodstock. Loving grandmother of Brent Turnbull (Kelly) of Toronto, Ryan Nowell ( Alison ) of London, Melanie Nowell-Coombs ( Justin ) of London, Cory and Connor Stewart (Lauren Watson) of Toronto. Much loved GG of Riley and Parker Turnbull, Emily and Liam Nowell and Amelia Coombs. Mildred is survived by her brother Bill (Helen) Smith of Norwich and was predeceased her parents Gilbert and Annie Smith and her brothers Jack, Milt , Jim, Bud and Mac. Mildred is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mom was a constant cheerleader and selfless supporter to everyone in her family and a good friend to many. She was a devoted mother, accomplished homemaker and talented artist. Mom loved to add beauty and creativity to everything she touched. She was always humble and chose to stand in the wings to let those she loved, take the bows. Mom you are the "wind beneath our wings". Friends are invited to join the family at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, 519-539-0004 on Friday January 19, 2018 from 6- 8pm and again on Saturday from 1-2 pm. A celebration of Mildred's life will be held in the chapel on Saturday at 2:00 pm. Cremation has taken place. Interment later in the Presbyterian Cemetery.
