Michael "Mike" Ernest Ritchie

Michael Ernest Ritchie, known affectionately as “Big Mike” to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2024, in Woodstock, Ontario. Born on February 25, 1943, in England, Mike's journey through life was marked by an unwavering kindness and a friendly demeanor that touched the hearts of all who knew him.

Mike was the beloved husband of Sharon, with whom he shared 61 years of loving marriage. Together, they built a life filled with joy, laughter, and an abundance of cherished memories. He was a devoted father to Colleen (Rick) Moss, Randy (Samantha) Ritchie, Wanda (Ken) Rushton, and Garth (Karen) Ritchie. His role as Grampy to Brandon (Dana), Dylan, Hannah (Jordan), Sarah (Cole), Rebecca (Adam), Owen, Heather (Erik), Gavin, and Sophie was one he embraced with immense pride and love. The joy of his family grew with the addition of his great-granddaughter, Olivia, who brought a new sparkle to his eye.

Mike's love for dogs was well-known, and his canine companions were a constant source of happiness and companionship throughout his life. An avid fisherman, he found solace and excitement in the tranquility of nature and the thrill of the catch. His passion for the outdoors was a testament to his appreciation for life's simple pleasures.

Those who knew Mike would describe him as a loving soul, whose kindness knew no bounds. His friendly nature made him a cherished friend and a pillar in his community. His presence was a comfort, and his laughter a gift that will be dearly missed.

As we bid farewell to Mike, we celebrate a life lived with love at its core. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth, generosity, and a family that adored him. Mike's spirit will continue to guide and inspire those he loved, and his memory will be treasured forever in the hearts of his family and friends.

In honoring Mike's life, we reflect on the joy he brought into our world and the gentle imprint he left on our hearts. He will be remembered not just for the life he lived, but for the love he gave so freely. Rest in peace, dear Mike, until we meet again.
