M.D. (Mac) Smith

SMITH - At Woodstock General Hospital on Sunday October 5, 2003. M.D. "Mac" Smith of Gardiner Place, Woodstock in his 87th year. Beloved husband of Doris C. Smith (nee Pearson). Dear father of Linda Moore of Woodstock. Loved grandfather of David and his wife Suzette of Hamilton, Tyler and his wife Kelly of Toronto and Jenny (Chad) of Woodstock. Dear brother of Mildred Slater and her husband Trevor of Woodstock, James and his wife Gladys of Detroit, Bill and his wife Helen of Norwich and brother-in-law of Marcia Smith of Beachville. Predeceased by his brothers Jack, Milton and Walter (Bud). Mac was a member of Chalmers United Church, St. John's Ambulance, Honorary Life Member of Oxford Masonic Lodge # 76, I.O.D.E,. a social member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #55, Oxford County Naval Veterans Association and Moose Lodge. He was the Past President of Woodstock Kinsman Club, Past President of Western Ontario Funeral Service Association. Mac served the community in funeral service for 50 years. Friends may call at the R.D. Longworth Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock (539-0004) on Monday 7-9 pm and Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held at the Chalmers United Church, 15 Vansittart Ave., Woodstock on Wednesday at 11:00 am with Rev. Donald Linkletter officiating. Interment in the 17th Line Cemetery. Contributions to the St. John's Ambulance or the Chalmers United Church would be appreciated. A St. John's Ambulance service under the auspices of St. John's Ambulance, Woodstock will be held at the funeral home on Monday evening at 6:30pm. A Masonic service under the auspices of Oxford Masonic Lodge #76 A.F.&A.M. will be held in the funeral homeTuesday evening at 6:30pm.
