TAYLOR -DEVRIES, Marjorie - It is with great sadness that the family of Marjorie Taylor-Devries announces her passing on July 21st, 2020 at the Woodstock Hospital with her beloved son Ben by her side. Velma Marjorie Ruth was born in the family farmhouse in Curries, ON. on August 19th, 1940 to Florence and Glenworth Tabor. She was the 9th of 10 children. At the tender age of 17 she married her first love Calvin Alfred Taylor on February 1st, 1958. They enjoyed many things together inside and out, playing cards, fishing, farming, travelling, playing and watching sports, cheering especially for the Toronto teams. Over the years Marjorie coached girls softball, was involved with Women's Institute and the United Church Women. She was a faithful member of Curries United Church until health issues prevented her from attending. Together Marj and Cal raised their children; Wayne, Ben and Barb and faced all the joys and challenges of life supporting and encouraging one another for almost 45 years. Marj was devastated when Cal was tragically killed as the result of a car accident in October of 2002. After some time she thankfully reconnected with Pete Devries who helped to bring meaning back into her life. Finding a fresh spark, they married on March 11th, 2006 and enjoyed travelling, playing cards and spending time in their beautiful yards for as long as Marj's health allowed. Her grandchildren and great- grandchildren brought great joy to her life and always held a special place in her heart. We are grateful for the care that her PSW's gave to mom, with a special thanks to Tiffany. Thanks also to her physician Dr. Paula Zhang and to the doctors, nurses and hospital staff for their tender care of mom during her frequent and often extended stays there. Her children are grateful for the love and care that Pete gave her, especially through these last difficult years. She was predeceased by her first husband Calvin, her infant son Gregory, her many brothers and sisters, her many-in-laws, and grandson- in-law Jason. She leaves behind to mourn her children Wayne (Laura), Ben, Barb (Brent) and grandchildren, Jennifer (Darrin), Calvin, Tegan (Mat), Bentley (Emily), Myan, Christopher, Stephanie (Andrew), great-grandchildren Wayne, Reid, Calder, McKenna, Heath, Oliver and Decklynd; her "second set" of daughters, Sheena (Keith), Sherry (Rich), Sheila (Steve) and her grandchildren; Cayla (Brooks), Aaron (Amanda), Brooke (Tyler), Sarah (Layne), Cody (Laura), Dillon (Emma), Shaelyn, Jesse, Lauren, Paige and great-grandson Easton; her sister Floss Tanner, brother Bob (Val) Tabor and in-laws Mildred Taylor; Ann Smith, John (Janis) Devries, Alice (Ray) Cann, Al (Lynn) Devries and a great many beloved nieces, nephews and their families. If so desired, memorial donations to the Children's Wish Foundation, United Church Mission and Service Fund or a charity of one's choice, would be appreciated and may be arranged through the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock (519-539-0004).
