ELLIOTT, Marjorie Doreen (née Graham) Townsend Elliott
After an extremely short illness, Marjorie Elliott unexpectedly left her earthly home while in the ER of Woodstock General Hospital, with family by her side. She is now enjoying life in eternity with her caring Saviour in whom she had unwavering faith. We're so very sad for us but happy for her.
Predeceased by wonderful parents Dora (née McLeod / 1990) and Henry Graham (1975); precious sister Mary Plater (2012); beloved husbands Norm Townsend (1956) and Bill Elliott (2020); several sisters- / brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews. Survived by her four children (each one her favourite!): Carol (Phil) Cole, Woodstock; Pete (Carol) Elliott, Calgary; Andy (Julie) Elliott, Peterborough; and Mary Elliott, Woodstock; grandchildren: Alison (née Cole / Octavio Morales), Shannonville; Emily (née Cole / Cal Chan), Vancouver; Sean Elliott (Nancy Ho), Fort McMurray; Jenn Elliott, Vancouver; Connor Gregory, Toronto; Clare (née Gregory / Phil Muma), Ottawa; Thomas Elliott, Peterborough; Jonah Elliott, New Zealand; Amanda Lane, Roseneath; Jesse Lane, Omemee; Kate Dowdall, Toronto; Julia Dowdall, Woodstock; great-granddaughters: Mila Morales and Billie Chan. GG was excitedly anticipating the spring arrivals of Baby Chan and Baby Muma.
Marge is lovingly remembered by her brother-in-law Louie Townsend, AB; sister-in-law Edie Townsend, BC; and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families. Also missing her deeply are her cousins, friends, and neighbours (Oshawa, Tyrone, Woodstock). She was so faithful at keeping in touch via phone calls, letters, and cards; each of us mattered to her.
Little Marjorie, born in a nursing home in Collingwood ON, grew up at Banks on what is now known as Blue Mountain, and enjoyed her childhood on the farm. In 1953, she graduated as an RN and was a perfect fit for this career but an even better fit for what she considered her most important and worthwhile roles: Christian, Wife, and Mother.
Marge recently wrote and published two books: her autobiography entitled The First 90 Years and her collection of poetry entitled Rhyming from Nine to Ninety. What a legacy she has left for us!
Compassionate, tender-hearted, loving, courageous, optimistic, gentle, humble, sweet, huggy, comforting, genuine, friendly, sincere, gracious, hospitable, playful, curious, witty, smart, twinkly-eyed, fun, wise, loyal, poetic, an upright woman of integrity. These are the apt words most commonly used to describe her. We feel blessed to have known such a remarkable person.
Her final words were “I love you” - so perfectly befitting of someone whose life epitomized love.To the caring Dr Mary Vu in the ER, nurses, porters, and EMTs of Woodstock General Hospital, Dr Jennifer Bonnett, and attentive nurse Scott Gould (whom she thought of as a son), we thank you all.
Cremation has taken place. Service will be held in early summer; details forthcoming. Interment to take place in Collingwood, ON. Arrangements entrusted to Brock & Visser Funeral Home, Woodstock ON.
