Marines Johannes "Rene" Maria Rossewy

It is with great sadness that we share the death of Marines “Rene” Johannes Maria Rossewy of Long Point/Woodstock surrounded by love, on his 78th birthday Monday, April 10, 2023.

Loving Father of Paula Rossewy and her partner Greg Skinner, cherished Grandfather “Papa” of Taylor Lobsinger, Joshua Lobsinger, Oliver Skinner (Sara), and Sophie Skinner (Hayden). Beloved partner of Linda Saundercock. , dear friend of her daughter Lisa Acchione (Paul), and Grandfather figure to Carter and Cooper Acchione. Cherished Great-Grandfather of Addison Lobsinger. Dear brother of Klazina “Chris” Palmer (Paul) of Woodstock, and Tony White (Val) of Rossburn Manitoba. Fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, extended family and foster family members and his many friends. Pre-deceased by his parents Johannes and Deonisia Rossijj and his brothers John and Harry Rossewy.

Rene dedicated over 29 years to public service as a police officer with the Woodstock City Police. For 20 years following his retirement, he was a proud entrepreneur owning businesses in Woodstock, Brantford and New Hamburg. Rene is recognized on the Woodstock Sports Wall of Fame for his contributions to the creation of the Gymnastics Club facility at the Community Complex.

He was a long-time member of the Woodstock Optimist Club. Rene walked through life with intention and love, endlessly devoted to his family and putting others before himself. He was someone who showed up for his community time and time again. This loss will be felt deeply by all.

A celebration of Rene’s life will be held at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home. 845 Devonshire Ave, Woodstock Ontario on Sunday, April 23, 2023, from 1 pm-4:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Canadian Liver Foundation would be appreciated
