Margriet "Marg" Irene Overveld

Margriet Irene Overveld, affectionately known as Marg to her friends and loved ones, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2024, at the age of 73. Born on November 3, 1950, in Woodstock, New Brunswick, Marg's journey came full circle as she took her last breath in Woodstock, Ontario, surrounded by the love of her family.

Marg's life was marked by her unwavering kindness and intelligence, traits that shone brightly through her long and dedicated career as a school teacher. Over the years, she imparted wisdom and compassion to countless students across 11 different schools in Oxford County. Her passion for education and her commitment to her students' growth left an indelible mark on the community.

Marg's legacy is carried on through her beloved husband, Bert, and their daughter, Deana Overveld. She was a cherished grandmother to Ashley Overveld, Hannah, Olivia, and Ryan Saylon, who will hold dear the memories and lessons she shared. Though her son Ryan preceded her in death in 2006, his spirit remained a guiding light in her life.

A sister to Metta, Wilma, John, Beatrice, and the late Nellie, Jane, Gordon, and Joe, and sister in law Ada (Dick) Dors, Marg's familial bonds were a source of strength and joy. Her role as a sister was filled with moments of laughter, support, and shared wisdom that her siblings will treasure forever.

Visitation will take place on Thursday February 22, 2024, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Brock and Visser Funeral Home (845 Devonshire Ave. 519-539-0004). Visitation will continue Friday February 23, 2024, at Dundas St. United Church (285 Dundas St.)  from 10 am - 10:45 am followed by a funeral service at 11 am. A spring burial will take place at Sweaburg Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sakura House or VON Adult Day Program and would be appreciated by the family.
