Margrietha "Marg" Richards

In the early morning hours of October 21, 2023, our beloved sister in Christ, Margrietha “Marg” Richards (nee Hobe), was called home to be with the Lord. Born on March 12, 1950, in the picturesque town of Hilversum, Netherlands. Marg lived a life that was a testament to her faith, love, and selflessness. She was a beacon of light in this world, and her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those she left behind.

Marg’s love for her family was boundless. She was the beloved wife of Jim Richards for 26 beautiful years. She was the proud mother of Sjenk VanSoelen (Shelly), Patti Reyneveld (John), Richard VanSoelen (Sarah), and JoAnne DeBoer (Andrew). Marg’s joy was multiplied by her 22 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, who were the apples of her eye.

Marg was survived by her siblings Ralph Hobe (Corrie), Tina VanYken, Cees Hobe, Dianne Baarda (Dan), and Harriett Draaistra. She was predeceased by her loving parents Roelof and Gysbertha Hobe as well as some siblings and in-laws. Margaret will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 24 from 6-9pm. Funeral Service will take place at Maranatha Christian Reformed Church, 735 Frontenac St., Woodstock, at 11am on Wednesday, October 25. Private interment at Oxford Centre Pioneer Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Woodstock Christian School.
