Shier, Margaret Jean - Passed away peacefully at People Care, Tavistock on October 7, 2013 in her 106th year. Beloved wife of Clarence (1951). Loving mother of Susan Barker and husband James . Dear Nana of Alison (London, England), Christopher (Ohio), Jennifer Anderson, husband Kendall and great grandsons, Connor and Max (Toronto) Over the years, Jean has been blessed to have the support and love of her sisters, Rachel Hilts, (Ken) and Mary Kirby (Gordon) and brother Victor as well as her many nieces and nephews, especially her niece Marilyn Potter. (Goderich) Jean will be greatly missed and remembered always by her family and friends. Jean taught kindergarten at Northdale and Hillcrest Public Schools in Woodstock until her retirement in 1970. She was an active member of Central United Church, the Woodstock Naturalist Society, the Woodstock Art Gallery and the Woodstock Rug Hookers Group. Susan and family would like to thank Dr. Card and the staff at People Care for their kind and compassionate care. A memorial service in celebration of Jean's life will be held at St. David's United Church, 190 Springbank Ave., Woodstock on Saturday October 19, 2013 at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. If desired, memorial contributions to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated and may be arrange through Brock and Visser Funeral Home, Woodstock, 519-539-0004.
