PEGG, Margaret Luella- Peacefully at the home of her granddaughter and surrounded by family holding her hands on the morning of Feb 13, 2022, Margaret Luella Pegg, of Thamesford one month shy of her 98th birthday slipped away to be reunited with her husband Bill.
Born on March 12, 1924, in a small farmhouse in Hicksville NB, she was the daughter of the late Weldon and Wavie (Carson) Alward. She was predeceased by husband William ‘Bill’ (2017) whom she was married to for 4 months short of 70 years before his passing.
Margaret will be greatly missed by her sons William (Pat) of Summerside PEI and Robert (Candi) of Thamesford. She was the beloved Grammie of William Jr Pegg (Stacy), Brad Pegg (Lisa), of Fredericton NB, Setina Stewart (Manny) of Ingersoll, Sara Fenton (David) of Kintore and Robert Jr Pegg (Jami) of Thamesford.
She thought the world of her great grandchildren; Gracie Pegg, Martha & Alec Pegg, Kalen, Kolton & Kayson Stewart, Avery Pegg, Jayden, Haven & Kali Fenton, and James Butler. She will be fondly remembered by many nieces & nephews across Canada.
Margaret was the last surviving member of her family. She was predeceased by sisters; Helen Bertrum, Juanita DuPlessis; brothers Walter, Melbourne, Wilfred, Wallace, Blair and Leon Alward.
Margaret enjoyed spending time with her best friend and granddaughter Setina, the bond they shared was like no other. She loved her family especially her great-grandchildren who where the light of her life, always asking what’s the kids doing. She could often be found with her nose in a crossword book or sitting in her chair doing a jigsaw puzzle. Evenings were spent with a cup of tea watching wheel of fortune. In her younger years, Margaret and Bill enjoyed boating and German Shepherds, gardening and working around their house. They belonged to a motor home club and spent much of their retirement traveling with their trailers from coast to coast.
Margaret moved into Oxford Manor in November 2014. She was able to enjoy her ‘golden’ years involved in many activities playing games, cards, exercise class and she never missed signing up for an outing. In Margaret’s own words “the people who work here are so nice and helpful”. The family cannot thank the staff at Oxford Manor Ingersoll enough for your care and compassion shown to Margaret and her family over these years. She thought the world of each and everyone of you.
The family would also like to thank Dr. Sondhi (and Sarah), for his exceptional care he provided over the years. We feel so grateful knowing Margaret was cared for by you and your team. You always went above and beyond making her feel comfortable and you always made sure her, and our family felt heard after every visit. There really are no words enough to appreciate all you did for Margaret.
Many thanks to Alexandra Hospital nursing staff and Dr. Collins, St. Elizabeth & Care Partner nurses for helping us to provide end of life care and for fulfilling our wishes of bringing Margaret home to die where she could be comfortable and surrounded by love. Special thanks to nurse David for making sure we were there in those final moments with only seconds to spare and then staying after shift to support our family.
Margaret will be missed forever, but we take comfort in knowing she is reunited with Bill again. We will always love you more.
