Margaret Florence May (Hanley) Harrington

HARRINGTON, Margaret Florence May (nee Hanley) - Following a courageous battle with cancer, Marg died peacefully with her family by her side at the Woodstock General Hospital on Saturday August 22, 2009. Mom has passed on to be with her soulmate and husband Bill (1972). Loving and caring mother of Terry and his wife Brigitte of Sweaburg, and Brian and his wife Catherine of Woodstock. Loving grandmother of Ryan, Joel, Sarah and Nicholas. Also survived by her sisters Pat (Peter) Bryce, Jackie (Jim) Hopkins, Jeannie (Ches) Keeping all of Ingersoll, Mary (Keith) Miles of Woodstock, brother Jim (Anne) of St. Thomas and by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brother Roy. Mom touched so many lives and was fortunate to be blessed with so many good friends, neighbours, and family. Margaret graduated from the Woodstock School of Nursing in 1953. She stayed very close with her classmates throughout the years. She began her career at Woodstock General Hospital, then became the office nurse for Dr. William Butt, Dr. Richard Reddick and retired as the Occupational Health Nurse at Kelsey Hayes. True to her profession, Margaret was caring and compassionate. She was independent and strong willed. She put others ahead of herself, never wanting to make a fuss. A private family service will be held at a later date. At mom's request, in lieu of flowers, donations can be be made to a local charity of your choice with preference given to Woodstock District Developmental Services (Transitions Program) or the VON - Sakura House would be appreciated and may be arranged through the Longworth Funeral Home, Woodstock, 519-539-0004.
