KING – Malcolm, Turnbull

Passed away peacefully at Woodstock Hospital on Friday July 9th, 2021 in his 93rd year.  Beloved husband for over 54 years of the late Lorraine (nee Smith) (Harris) who predeceased him in 2009.  Dear brother of John (Agnes) King of Woodstock (formerly of Hickson) and predeceased by brother-in-law Mac (Betty) Smith of Naniamo, BC.  Also predeceased by his parents, A. Gordon King and Hazel Jane (Jean) (nee Turnbull).  Much loved uncle of Wendy (Don) May, Gayle (Dave) Newman, Val Smith, all of Nanaimo, BC, Robert Smith (Betty Holmes) of Desert Hot Springs, CA,  Ruth (David) Duncan of Woodstock, Dave (Gwen) King of Hickson, Donna (Rob) Berg of Thorndale, Nancy (Gord) McNeice of Gravenhurst, and Rob (Erika) King of Hickson.  Will be greatly missed by great, and great-great nieces and nephews.

Malcolm was a graduate of the Woodstock Collegiate Institute, and University of Toronto, BSc Mathematics in 1952.  He remained in Toronto for over 60 years working as a computer programmer for Gulf Oil of Canada and Zurich Life Insurance Company of Canada. He was honoured with a life master member of the American Contract Bridge League and he and Lorraine enjoyed the life-long friendships which came from that league.  He was past president of their condo board at Harbourside and was a volunteer for various committees.  He also became a member of Mensa Canada. They enjoyed many years of travel which included family visits to Nanaimo and the family farm in Hickson, and Scotland and England to do family research.  The family fondly remember trips to Toronto to visit Uncle Mac and Aunt Lorraine which always included special events such as Blue Jay games, ROM, theatres, zoo, Centre Island, and CN Tower.  Many thanks for their ongoing support and care to the staff at Oxford Gardens and Woodstock Hospital.  Cremation has taken place and a private family memorial will be held later.  If desired, memorial contributions to the Woodstock Hospital Foundation would be appreciated and may be arranged through the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock. (519)-539-0004.  Expressions of love and sympathy may be given at www.brockandvisser.com
