Mabel Jeanne Brown, a beacon of love and friendship, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2024 at the age of 81.
Mabel was the cherished wife of the late Lawrence "Larry" Brown, who predeceased her in 2016. Together, they built a life filled with laughter and love. She was a devoted mother to Linda Thomas (Thom Swan), Carlene Smith (Pat), and the late Paul Matson. Mabel embraced her role as a step-mother, providing guidance and affection to Mike Brown (Donna) and Maureen Lockley (Shane). Her legacy continued with her grandchildren, Spencer, Sage, the late Fallon, Alysha, Eric, Riley, and Kelly, and she was blessed to see the world anew through the eyes of her great-grandchildren, Riley, Brio, and Levi.
Mabel was the loving sister of Pat Houle (Jacquie), Carmen Houle, and Shelley Champagne. She was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Winnifred Houle, her sisters Bernice, Lillian, and Belle, and her brother Garnet. Her dear friend Deb Hurley will fondly remember the countless moments they shared. She will be remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
After dedicating over 25 years of service to Firestone, Mabel retired, leaving behind not only a legacy of hard work but also of camaraderie and dedication.
Mabel's zest for life was evident in her active involvement in the Woodstock Navy Club. She was a familiar face and a treasured member. Her love for the open road was undeniable as she rode her Harley Davidson into her 70s, a testament to her adventurous spirit and youthful heart. Country music was the soundtrack of Mabel's life. Never one to sit idle, her social calendar was a reflection of her love for community and fun; Tuesdays were reserved for shuffleboard, and Wednesdays for darts, each game an opportunity for laughter and fellowship. Her friends and family meant the world to Mabel.
Friends are invited to join Mabel's family for a celebration of her life at the Woodstock Navy Club, 959 James St., Woodstock, on Tuesday August 6th from 1-4pm.
